In the Business Standard (February 17, 2014), Rupa Subramanya and I argue that incorrect interpretations of elections in 2004 in Andhra Pradesh and at the centre -- wrongly blaming economic reforms -- help explain why there's no true non-sectarian, centre-right party in India today.
